Carmel Weekend Getaways
It may be said that Carmel Lodge, with its courtyard seasonally solar-heated outdoor pool, offers a singular and indisputably passive recreation option. Consider however the proximity of Carmel Beach; it is the optimal setting for a heart-pounding run, brisk jog, or leisurely walk. And the Carmel-by-the-Sea village tree-lined streets and walkways are ideal for strolling.
For serious hikers and walkers the area's many state and regional parks and beaches are ideal. And for bicyclists, they may enjoy a diversity of ride challenges and visual rewards -- from 17-Mile Drive in Pebble Beach, to Carmel Valley Road to Scenic Road, to the Laguna Seca Recreation Area.
Motoring is also considered recreational in and around Carmel whether on Highway One South, 17-Mile Drive in Pebble Beach or Carmel Valley Road.
And Carmel offers excellent scuba diving venues too. Among them are Carmel Bay, Carmel Meadows, Monastery Beach, Point Lobos State Reserve, and Stewart's or Stillwater Coves.
Consider also that there are no less than 50 spas and salons in the Carmel-by-the-Sea, Carmel Valley, and Monterey Peninsula area. Your greatest stress during your stay may arise from simply choosing the most desirable location and services to coincide with your needs!
And then, of course, many visitors come to Carmel and the Monterey Peninsula for one purpose only - to golf. And what a truly remarkable and rewarding experience awaits those who do! Consider the fine reputations many of these area courses (almost all of them public) enjoy.
